This was the first time Rosario and I got to spend the Christmas holiday in Mexico together. It was fun to spend extended time with family, eat too all the tamales, and experience my first Noche Buena. I spent much of my time hanging out in my abuelita's garden with Nina the chihuahua, Lina the cat, and Troll the friendly dog.
La Laguna, the region where Torreón and Gomez Palacios are located, is known for quality gorditas. They were ubiquitous and delicious. In addition to eating everything, we spent some time at Museo Gordosave in Lerdo and in the mountains at the Cristo de las Noas in Torreón.
Since it would be a crime to omit, here is a brief list of places we recommend:
• La Pasadita (aka Gorditas la Cecy) - no website but it's a yellow building adjacent to Restaurante Las Flores near Parque Victoria in Lerdo
• La Hacienda de San Fernando - decent brunch, great atmosphere. It's an hacienda that's been converted to a restaurant
